5 Celebrity Wedding Cakes to Inspire You

What better combination than Celebrities and Cake and this blog ties them together in all their wedding glory.

Each time a celebrity (or royal) gets married we care deeply about the dress (and if anyone will fall over on their way up the steps to the church), and whilst they all look flawlessly stunning, I’m always most intrigued by the choice of wedding cake! Whether it’s a soaring showstopper or something simple – celebrities always seem to have their wedding cake and eat it too! So here are my top 5 celebrity wedding cakes.

1. Marcia Cross & Tom Mahoney

I am pretty sure Desperate Housewives would be my specialist subject if I was to ever go on Mastermind, and Bree Van de Kamp was possibly one of my favourite characters with her thriving catering business and baking skills as well as the ability to keep an immaculate home! According to InStyle, to pick their wedding cake, Marcia invited friends along to the wedding cake tasting at the Layers Cake Design Studio where each got to pick their favourite flavour. The couple then designed their five-tier wedding cake (including white cake with raspberries) that was "delicious and the size of the Eiffel Tower," according to the bride herself.

What I like: The option to go square and of course the flowers that bring an abundance of colour and romance

2. Lauren Conrad & William Tell

Asides from my major girl crush, this one made the list because Lauren (as always) was bang on trend with her buttercream wedding cake amid their wholly Pinterest-worthy wedding in California. They picked a modest two-tiered chocolate cake from A Sweet Savory Bakery, with ganache and vanilla buttercream icing decorated with a few fresh flowers. Of course it’s not just me with a mild obsession for this wedding, as Meghan and Harry followed the trend with their buttercream wedding cake too! Find the whole wedding album on Cosmopolitan.

What I like: The choice for understated elegance without compromising on this hot trend.

3. Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli

I fell head over heels for the gorgeous confetti themed wedding and stunning photos from their wedding last year. And to prove that the cake can be the muse for a whole wedding, they served up the dessert that inspired it all: confetti cakes. The sprinkle-topped confections from SusieCakes included a larger one for the official cutting as well as mini versions for the guests. The wedding was full of incredible details including the cake being served to their guests with sparklers, and don’t get me started on the genius of the champagne jell-o shots! 4. George Clooney & Amal Alamuddin

Hands down, these two are the most sophisticated of celebrities, and their wedding did not disappoint. Ramperti Bakery produced a towering three-tiered chocolate, art-deco style show-stopper, decorated in gold to match the dining room of their wedding venue in Italy. A guest told HELLO! Magazine that "in Lebanese tradition, guests each have to eat a piece of the wedding cake for good luck, even if just a mouthful, so everyone could confirm it was delicious, too". If you love the Art Deco or Great Gatsby wedding cake vibe, definitely check out Michael Phelps & Nicole Johnson wedding too!

What I like: The opulence and simplicity of black, white and gold keeping this cake classic and classy.

5. Chrissy Teigen & John Legend

Another Italy destination wedding (a hot favourite in celeb world), whilst Chrissy may have had three wedding dresses (yes, THREE!), the couple served just one cake; a four-tier carrot cake (reportedly Teigen’s favourite) with cream cheese frosting by AFM Banqueting Milano. It was adorned with eucalyptus leaves and fresh flowers in a beautiful take on the naked wedding cake trend. In a throwback post on Instagram the bride dedicated a message to the wedding cake writing “I miss you, giant cake” and I don’t judge her for it.

What I like: The rustic simplicity and use of foliage, but I also adore their cake cutting photo too!
