My Nomination (and nominees) for 20 On The Rise

Updated: Jan 2, 2019

Earlier this year I was nominated for Honeybook & Rising Tide’s 2018 20 ON THE RISE list, in partnership with Gusto and Peerspace. The list celebrates individuals “making waves through their hard work, determination and creativity in their respective industries”.

20 On The Rise Nominee

It’s not a popularity contest or a ‘most liked’ list, each application is a detailed questionnaire that demonstrates how the nominee demonstrates empowerment, impact, purpose, and passion. So naturally I was truly honoured to receive an email telling me that someone thought these amazing things about me.

I care very much about empowering other small business owners, and invest time in growing my network with other creatives and regularly check in on the success and struggles of each entrepreneur. I am a girl who hustles and does the best I can do to succeed, always. I might not always have been a straight-A student but I am one of those who got good grades when I put in that the extra hour of revision and didn’t skip the lecture. I have a deep passion inside me for wedding cakes and a clear dream of building a cake empire that I’m determined every day, to put in the work to make it succeed.

So whilst this blog announces (and celebrates) my nomination, I also wanted to take advantage of the list to highlight a few other creative individuals who inspire me and are also worthy of their nominee status!

Oh, and she is totally gorgeous!

Charlotte Argyrou: Botanical Illustrator

I met Charlotte earlier this year through a fabulous group coaching program as she launched her Wedding Bouquet Illustration service (which is THE perfect first anniversary present by the way). As someone who was not bestowed the artist gene I am in awe every day at the beautiful illustrations, prints and designs she creates. Not only that, Charlotte is an incredible mum of two beautiful girls and a wonderful wife to a dishy Greek. She recently launched a supper club for ‘brilliant creative business owners’ that strives to connect people with the shared business philosophy of Community Over Competition. And she contributes to a stunning digital magazine NURTURE that you need to read.

Vicky Shilling: Blogger, Coach & Reset Host

Ok, you may think I’m a little bias, but my sister is totally deserved and here is why. She has an award winning blog for healthy living for busy entrepreneurs with the most incredible Instagram feed (follow for some epic food porn), she has co-launched a retreat company to give women time, space and support needed to make changes in their lives, PLUS she’s just launched her amazing coaching business for wellness entrepreneurs where she gives endless time back to others to grow their dream business too. So besides the fact she is a caring and beautiful sister to me, she is a truly incredible woman.

Lea Tierney: Chocolate Maker, Massage Therapist and Writer - we met on a yoga retreat day a couple of years ago. She is co-founder and chief maker at Rosemary and Robert, a Kent based homemade, vegan, allergy-aware cacao chocolate company (perfect Christmas presents!). As well as making chocolate, Lea is also a qualified Indian head massage therapist and holistic wellbeing coach and writer. She pours her passion and energy into every aspect of her creative life and as part of a mastermind group I’m in, she is always there to encourage and remind us all that we need to be in harmony with our bodies in order to have the capacity to work as hard as is needed to succeed.
